Abstract
A full analytical description is given of the amplitude and phase spectra of a segment of a harmonic signal of the most general form in terms of the parameters which represent it. Utilizing simple mathematical relationships, the problem of estimating the frequency, the amplitude, and the initial phase of oscillations is solved with a high accuracy. Possible sources of errors are indicated together with the values of such errors.
