Abstract

Recently, much effort has been dedicated to the coupled chemical-dynamical modeling of pre-stellar low mass cores. Here I discuss some of the major sources of uncertainty which afflict the models, pointing out the importance of detailed comparisons between observations and model predictions to put constraints on theory and better understand the initial conditions of the star formation process as well as the gas-grain chemistry preceding stellar birth.
