Abstract

The oxidation of N,N-dimethylaniline (DMA) by hexacyanoferrate (III) (Fe (CN)6 3-) has been studied in aqueous and micellar solutions of N,N-dimethyl- dodecylamine N-oxide (DDAO). The rate enhancement of the reaction in the presence of micelles has been explained with the pseudo- phase model of the kinetics. The dependence of the reaction rate on the nature of the salt cation has also been discussed.
