Abstract
Correct selection of feedstock predetermines the quality of oxidized asphalts. However, the active standards do not allow making such a selection. The requirements for vacuum resids for production of oxidized paving asphalts should be differentiated as a function of the nature of the crude oil refined and the grade of the binders obtained. A method is developed and the requirements are determined for vacuum resids as applied to the conditions of Saratov Refinery. The necessity of improving the active standard for viscous paving asphalts is noted.
