Abstract

The results of experiments in which a cylinder freely located on a fixed shaft performs small harmonic oscillations driven by a subcritical free stream in an open channel are given. Examples of the strong feedback effect of the cylinder oscillations on the hydrodynamic wake and surface gravity waves are obtained.
