Microwave assisted facile synthesis of amino acid benzyl ester p-toluenesulfonate and hydrochloride salts

Abstract

A simple method for the synthesis of several amino acidbenzyl ester p-toluenesulfonate salts from thecorresponding amino acid and benzyl alcohol in presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid accelerated with microwave irradiation isdescribed. Under similar condition, the amino acid benzyl esterhydrochloride salts have also been obtained by using thionylchloride instead of p-toluenesulfonic acid in good yieldand purity.
