Abstract
Rigorous modal solutions of a tapered spot-size converter, which is strongly coupled to a secondary passive mode stabilizing guide, and both operating close to their modal cutoff are presented. A novel approach for the mode stabilizing passive diluted-core structure, incorporating several thin layers, is also presented.
