Abstract
Sr2CoMoO6 and Sr2NiMoO6 ceramics are prepared by solid-state reactions in air. As shown by x-ray diffraction, both compounds have a tetragonal perovskite-like structure with doubled unit-cell parameters as compared to the perovskite cell: a= 7.850 Å, c= 7.932 Å in Sr2CoMoO6 anda= 7.818 Å,c = 7.833 Å in Sr2NiMoO6 . The c/aratio in both compounds is 1.01. The dielectric properties of Sr2CoMoO6 and Sr2NiMoO6 are studied at low frequencies (1 kHz) and in the microwave range (1 GHz). The conductivity of both compounds exhibits semiconducting behavior. In the microwave range, their temperature-dependent dielectric permittivities show peaks attributable to phase transitions. Both Sr2CoMoO6 and Sr2NiMoO6 are assumed to be magnetoelectric materials.
