Development of a System for Suppressing Transverse Beam Oscillations for the LHC

  • Published:
Atomic Energy Aims and scope

Abstract

The system suppressing transverse coherent beam oscillations is an important part of the LHC (CERN). This system compensates injection errors, and together with cooling systems it maintains the luminosity during the working cycle of the accelerator. The unique properties of the beam impose special requirements on the parameters of this system. The required devices are being developed and built at JINR (Dubna) together with CERN and the Ministry of Industry and Science of the Russian Federation. This paper is devoted to a description of the basic units of the system and the current state of affairs.
