Wavelet Analysis of Hidden Periodicities in Some Indexes of Solar Activity

Abstract

The wavelet transform is used to analyze periodicities in the Wolf numbers, calcium plage areas, coronal intensities, net solar magnetic field intensities, fluxes of solar radiation at a wavelength of 10.7 cm, and geomagnetic planetary indexes. The periodicities with scales varying between 5 and 100 years have been detected. A correlation between the time series of temperature in Tomsk and solar activity is analyzed. No correlation is found between the initial series; however, a significant correlation is established between the periodicities in the time series of temperature and individual solar activity indexes.
