New Approach to Testing Wheel Disks of Railroad Cars

Abstract

The paper reports on an investigation to find causes of breaks in railroad car wheels. The breaks are due to clusters of point-like nonmetallic inclusions, which are aws in the material. Techniques for timely detection of such aws have been suggested.
