Abstract
Analytic expressions for the electrodynamics of TEM radiation normally incident upon a superconducting film-metallic substrate system are derived in the good conductor approximation. These expressions include the fields, surface impedance, and power dissipation in both the superconducting (or lossy dielectric) film and the metallic substrate. The sum of the power dissipating in the film and in the substrate--in the continuum approximation and in the steady-state limit--is shown to be in agreement with over 30 significant figures with an independent calculation that also employs the good conductor approximation.
