Abstract
The effect of the geometric characteristics of the extruder screw on loading-zone output is investigated and the threshold values of the ratios of the friction coefficients of the polymer against the screw and cylinder at which conveyance of the polymer stops are determined. It is shown that a screw in which the helix lead is close to its outer diameter and the helix angle is 18° is optimum for the extruder loading zone.
