Abstract

The plane-wave expansion of the modified cylindrical functions, i.e., the product of the mth-order modified Bessel function K m and the angular factor exp(imϑ), is given. This expansion, which is found to involve only evanescent plane waves, may be used in the study of coupling phenomena between circular and planar guiding structures.
