Investigation of the Cellular Structure in Detonation of a Cryogenic Hydrogen–Oxygen Spray

  • Published:
Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves Aims and scope

Abstract

The regular cellular structure in detonation of a cryogenic mixture (gaseous hydrogen and droplets of liquid oxygen) in a plane channel is studied numerically using the mathematical model of a two-phase, two-velocity medium. Data on the cell size and shape and on the relative height of detonation-front roughness are obtained. The influence of the initial pressure and chemical composition of the mixture on the geometric characteristics of the cell is studied. Key words: heterogeneous detonation of sprays, cellular structure, numerical simulation, cryogenic spray, gaseous hydrogen, liquid oxygen, droplet diameter.
