Interaction of Water with Cellulose and Cellulose Acetates as Influenced by the Hydrogen Bond System and Hydrophilic-Hydrophobic Balance of the Macromolecules

Abstract

Interaction of cellulose and cellulose acetates of different degrees of substitution with water, ethanol, and chloroform was studied by the sorption technique. The factors determining the solubility in water of cellulose acetates with degrees of substitution varied in a narrow range were studied.
