Application of Electron–Positron Annihilation for Determining the Thickness of the Barrier Layer on VVÉR Fuel-Element Cladding

Abstract

The possibility of using the nuclear-physical method of positron annihilation to determine the thickness of a barrier layer consisting of zirconium on the inner surface of VVÉR fuel-element claddings is examined. The basic principles and possibilities of the method and the results of investigations are presented.
