Protective Effect of Individual β-Aminovinylic Ketones and Their Mixtures on Iron in 1 M HCl

Abstract

The total inhibition factor and its constituents were determined for iron corrosion in 1 M HCl in the presence of individual β-aminovinylic ketones (β-AVKs) or their mixtures. A dependence of these coefficients on the total polarity of substituents in β-AVK molecules, with consideration of the mole fraction of each component, was found to be linear in semilogarithmic coordinates. This study confirmed that the Linear Gibbs energy relation (LGER) can be used to interpret the protection mechanisms of mixtures of inhibitors belonging to the same reaction series.
