Aerosol Aspiration into a Slot Sampler for Two Angles of Orientation

Abstract

The problem of aerosol aspiration into a slot between two plates (slot intake model) is studied for two angles between the slot and the free-stream velocity. Within the incompressible potential separationless approximation for the flow field, an analytical solution is obtained which is used for integrating the particle trajectory equations. Using the limiting trajectory method, the aspiration coefficients are calculated for variable Stokes number and ratio of the free-stream and aspiration velocities. The calculated aspiration coefficient is compared with the known results obtained from approximate theories.
