Nature of Silver and Palladium Centers on the Surface of Reactivated SilverPalladiumAlumina Catalysts

Abstract

Using the IR diffuse reflection spectra of adsorbed CO, a study has been made of the nature of the metal centers in silverpalladiumalumina catalysts differing in the means of their preparation. As a component of bimetal clusters, silver is shown to be in an ionic form in the reactivated samples. The activity of catalysts in oxidation of ethylene is studied and assumed to be dependent on the concentration of palladium atoms in the bimetal palladiumsilver clusters and generating linear complexes with the adsorbed CO.
