Continuous Deaeration of Spinning Solutions of Polyacrylonitrile in Dimethyl Acetamide

  • Published:
Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

The possibility of removing dispersed and partially dissolved air to a degree of saturation of 0.8 from spinning solutions of polyacrylonitrile in dimethylacetamide by deaeration under a 60 mm Hg vacuum for 1 min at 20-40°C was demonstrated experimentally. A method of determining the dissolved air in spinning solutions based on the dissolution time of a calibrated air bubble in them was proposed.
