Effect of Properties of Explosives on Attenuation of Blast Waves in Ground

  • Published:
Combustion, Explosion and Shock Waves Aims and scope

Abstract

The paper reports results of investigation of wave processes in ground during camouflets and excavating explosions of charges of various high explosives (HE). The effect of properties of HE on the blast‐wave amplitude and its variation with distance from the center of the explosion is shown. A criterion is proposed to compare the mechanical action of various HE in ground and empirical formulas predicting the stress state of ground with the use of HE that differ from reference HE.
