Inorganic Materials Aims and scope

Abstract

The enthalpies of formation from constituent oxides were calculated for mixed niobium oxides with perovskite and pyrochlore structures with consideration for the enthalpies of changes in the oxygen coordination of cations and the tolerance factor. The CaRNb2O7(R = rare earth) pyrochlores were shown to be thermodynamically unstable relative to Ca2Nb2O7and RNbO4at high temperatures in air.
