Abstract
The transparency of a coupling layer has been calculated numerically as a function of its thickness with a view to testing components using normal and slanted transducers and taking into account acoustic properties of the protecting material, coupling liquid, and tested objects, alongside the shape and spectrum of the sounding pulse. The calculations are supported by experimental data.
