Abstract

A procedure is suggested for calculating the liquid–vapor equilibrium compositions for multicomponent mixtures of higher aliphatic acids with 12 to 18 carbon atoms at given liquid composition, total saturation vapor pressure, and boiling points of the pure components. It is based on equations for the saturation vapor pressures of the components at the boiling point of the mixture (which is determined by iterations) and uses the component activity coefficient estimated by the method of analytical solutions of groups.
