Horizontally Loaded Foundations in Tamped Trenches and Their Analysis

Abstract

Results are presented for experimental and theoretical investigations of the interaction between horizontally loaded foundations in tamped trenches (FTT) and the soil beds. The influence exerted by tamped-in crushed stone on the resistance to horizontal load is determined. A method is proposed for analysis of horizontally loaded FTT using data derived from static probing of the soil.
