  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Abstract

The elevation of a digital levelling staff is estimated from the alternation of black and white bands of bar code. The errors in the readings are in the range 0.1–0.01 mm, which, in fact, represents the precision of the measurements, depends on the reliability of the dissemination of the units of length to the scale intervals. Reliable methods of control of bar-code–type readings are presented for specialists.
