Governing housing in China: State, market and work units

Abstract

In the last two decades, a wave of reform has swept through the world, changing the way housing systems operate. It leads to alternative housing mechanisms beyond those centred on either state or market. This paper looks at the changing role of state, market and work units in the new structure of housing governance in China.
