Chemical and Engineering Corrosion Protection for Equipment in the EDU–AVT Plant

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Abstract

The chlorides (both inorganic and organic) and sulfur compounds in crude oil entering a refinery corrode the equipment, primarily condensers and coolers, due to their hydrolysis and cracking during primary distillation of the crude oil. The process stability of the units decreases as a result, and this does not allow increasing the interrepair periods and increases the cost of repair work.
