Determination of the Yield of a Given Size Grade of a Lump Material in Conveyer Streams by Means of the Reflected Gamma Radiation Method

Abstract

A method of the in-process measurements of large-size lumps in a conveyor-transported crushed material based on measurements of the X-ray or gamma radiation reflected from the material surface is proposed. The method is substantiated theoretically. It is shown that the dispersion of the radiation intensity repeatedly measured in short time intervals can serve as an analytic parameter of the yield of large-size lumps. The fundamental methodic and design recommendations are presented for the practical use of the method proposed.
