Neutron–Noise Vibrational Diagnostics of a VVÉR-440 Core Shaft

Atomic Energy Aims and scope

Abstract

A method is presented for estimating the trajectory of the motion of a VVÉR-440 reactor core shaft on the basis of ionization-chamber noise. It is demonstrated that the statistics of the singular points of the trajectory makes it possible to monitor the wear of the core shaft–reactor vessel keyed expansion joints.
