Abstract
Basic electrochemical properties of ion-selective electrodes designed to assay sulfa drugs are studied. Quaternary ammonium salts containing various functional substituents are tested as the active group of an ion-exchanger. Association constants of electroactive compounds in the membrane media, solubility products, and distribution coefficients in the aqueous solution/membrane solvent system are calculated.
