Abstract
Based on the vision theory for turbid media, we develop a model for detection and visualization of plane-stratified irregularities of the scattering coefficient in biological tissues using the method of reflecting confocal microscopy. General formulas for calculating the backscattering signal are presented for the continuous and impulse illumination. The influence of the observation-system parameters on the maximum vision depth of irregularities is analyzed for several stratification types of optical characteristics of biological tissues.
