Model Studies on the Effects of Heart Orientation on Electrical Axis Measurements

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Abstract

A computer model has been used for the heart's electrical activity to examine how the position of the electrical axis is dependent on the angles of rotation of the heart around its anatomical axes in measurements with the standard lead configuration and an orthogonal one. The dependence is complicated but can be explained physically and expressed analytically as functions for a family of αQRS curves, in which the argument is the angle of rotation around one of the axes and the parameters are the angles of rotation with respect to the other two axes.
