Abstract

It was found that the reaction of flax and cotton fibres with solutions of nitric acid of different concentration obeys mechanisms characteristic of degradation in the internal kinetic region. The order of the reaction of hydrolysis of flax and cotton fibres in a solution of nitric acid equal to 0.5 and independent of the concentration of the acid is characteristic of diffusion-controlled processes.
