Substantiation of the Choice of Polypropylene Film Fibres for Production of Sewing Thread

  • Published:
Fibre Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

It was found that increasing the draw ratio of polypropylene film fibre to 9 and application of crimping on the surface with special shaping sponges increases its strength and decreases the torsion and flexural stiffness. The physicomechanical properties of samples of sewing thread of 50 tex × 1 × 2 structure made from crimped film fibres satisfied the requirements for thread for sewing woven polypropylene bags.
