Abstract
The adsorption of a series of aromatic and heterocyclic nitrogen-containing compounds on the surface of MgO is investigated under static conditions. It was established that the energy of adsorption of organic bases depends linearly on the effective charge of their nitrogen atoms. It was shown that such a correlation can be explained based on the concepts of the predominant electrostatic interactions in an adsorption complex with a hydrogen bond.
