Wind Soliton in an Annular Wind-Water Tunnel

Abstract

Experiments were conducted to examine the generation and evolution of solitons, which form on the surface of a liquid under the effect of wind. Characteristics of the solitons are evaluated. The shape of wind solitons is compared with calculations based on the Korteweg–De Frieze theory.
