Abstract
The IAU Symposium S202 of the 24th General Assembly (Manchester, August 7–18, 2000) was dedicated to new, rapidly developing areas of stellar–planetary astronomy—extrasolar planet discoveries, dust rings, the theory of the formation and evolution of orbits, and future research perspectives. A short review of the symposium is presented.
