Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study on the quality of stormwater runoff from two adjacent urban watersheds in Singapore. The study involved continuous recording of rainfall and streamflow within the basins, and systematic sampling of storm runoff during rainfall events. The water samples collected were analysed for its physical and chemical constituents. The ranges and mean concentrations of common quality parameters have been established, and the flushing effects of selected parameters were studied. Correlations of event mean concentrations and pollution loads of total suspended solids and chemical oxygen demand to both antecedent dry weather period and rainfall characteristics were also carried out.
