Abstract
The catalytic properties of zirconia prepared by different methods with impregnated variable-valence metals (chromium, cobalt, and cerium) as well as rhodium-promoted samples were studied in the reduction of nitrogen oxides by C1 and C3–C4 hydrocarbons and also in the presence of sulfur dioxide. TPDA and IR spectroscopy showed that the different catalytic behavior of the Me x O y /ZrO2 samples is related to their acid properties. The more active samples had strong Brönsted acid sites.
