Abstract
Coal mine waste tip spontaneous combustion is a world-wide environmental concern. The practice for preventing as well as extinguishing the waste tip spontaneous combustion in China has been undertaken for 15 yr with the first practice at Fenxi Coal Mine Management Bureau. In this paper, the current development of coal mine waste tip spontaneous combustion management in China is reviewed. Emphasis is placed on the techniques currently used in preventing and extinguishing the spontaneous combustion in China.
