Abstract
We analyze the issue of a complete description of gauge field theories in termsof holonomies or nonlocal gauge invariants. In particular, we show that aformulation of QCD in terms of holonomies does not exhibit the strong CPproblem, and at the same time solves theU(1) A puzzle from the very beginning.
