Microdiamonds and the Ultraviolet Extinction of Starlight

Abstract

Nanometre-sized microdiamonds of the type recently discovered in meteorites could make up a significant fraction of interstellar carbon, and thus explain the observed excess of interstellar extinction at ultraviolet wavelengths.
