Abstract
A new species of planktonic rotifer, Keratella sinensis n.sp.is described from Lake Yaoquan, Heilongjiang, P.R. China. Itprobably also occurs in the Republic of Korea and Japan. The newmorphospecies is characterised by an unusually smooth lorica, andstrongly reduced lateral anterior spines. It is the first exampleof a planktonic freshwater rotifer, endemic to North EastAsia.
