Abstract

The treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other disturbances related to psychological trauma is difficult, even though effective and mostly psychotherapeutic approaches to treatment are available.

The non-verbal and non-confronting NADA acupuncture treatment appears to be a promising adjunctive option in the specialized trauma-therapeutic setting. This is plausible, considering the essence of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Current literature presenting case reports and comprehensive data as well as results from experimental research give cause to hope that the NADA protocol, as well as other options using body acupuncture, may enhance the treatment of psychologically traumatized people.
