Zusammenfassung
Die EIT kann wichtige Hinweise auf potentielle und reale Probleme, Risiken und Notfallsituationen geben. Insbesondere bei beatmeten Patienten mit schweren Lungenfunktionsstörungen ist die EIT ein dienliches, nichtinvasives und strahlungsfreies, bettseitiges Monitoringtool, welches erlaubt den Verlauf der Lungenfunktion online besser zu beurteilen. Dies hat den wesentlichen Vorteil, dass unmittelbar Interventionen durchgeführt, Therapien angepasst und deren Wirkungen sofort ersehen werden können. Die EIT kann der Intensivpflegekraft mehr Sicherheit im Umgang mit dem Patienten geben.
Keines falls kann die EIT das CT jedoch ersetzen, sondern lediglich einige, klinisch typische Fragestellungen suffizienter, schneller, günstiger und patientenschonender beantworten. Auch in der Rettungsmedizin sowie in der außerklinischen Intensivpflege beatmungspflichtiger Patienten sollte der Nutzen überdacht und untersucht werden.
