Periodontal and Implant Research is a new international journal published by Springer Nature that covers all aspects of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry including preclinical and clinical research. The journal is a re-launch of the journal Clinical Dentistry Reviewed that was also published by Springer Nature and was focused on concise reviews of latest clinical procedures in the entire field of dentistry. While Clinical Dentistry Reviewed covered an exceptionally broad spectrum of topics throughout the entire field of dentistry, Periodontal and Implant Research will be dedicated solely to periodontal and implant research. Research and publications within the field of periodontology and implant dentistry have increased remarkably during the last few years and helped us to expand our knowledge about the etiopathogenesis, treatment and maintenance of periodontal and peri-implant diseases. The journal welcomes basic and translational research, as well as pre-clinical and clinical research. Thematic areas that will be covered include, among others: biological mechanisms underlying periodontal and peri-implant disease, impact of oral microbiome on prevention and management of periodontal and peri-implant disease, links between periodontal disease and systemic diseases, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal and peri-implant disease, osseointegrated implants and bone biology, wound healing, regenerative techniques and biomaterials in periodontal and implant therapy, digital technologies in periodontology and implantology, and the role of periodontology/implantology in public health.

I am truly honored to serve as the Editor-in-Chief and feel enthusiastic about this opportunity. It is also my great pleasure to work closely with an excellent team of associate editors and members of the International Editorial Board. All of them are leading experts and established members of our research community coming from different regions of the world. Together we want to ensure that Periodontal and Implant Research will provide the authors a rapid, transparent, and productive publication process.

In summary, I will use all my experience and personal skills to attract interesting manuscripts and raise the visibility of our journal within the community with the final goal to develop a reputable and distinctive international journal that will be an important source of information in the field of periodontology and dental implantology. Looking forward to the future of the journal.

A warm welcome to all of you!

Adrian Kasaj, Editor-in-Chief.
