Structural biology has taken a giant leap with the advent of cryo-electron microscopy and tomography in the past few years and it is appropriate that our Journal which focuses on review articles on recent specialized areas brings out the current issue entitled Recent Advances in Structural Biology. It is also noteworthy that two of our young colleagues Somnath Dutta from Molecular Biophysics Unit and Tanweer Hussain from Molecular Reproduction Development and Genetics are the guest editors. They have invited articles from experts in cognate disciplines like X-ray crystallography, cryo-microscopy, computational biology and nuclear magnetic resonance thus ensuring this issue to serve as a useful handbook for structural biologists. I wish to thank all the authors who have contributed to this issue and helping us in bringing the publication on time.

I wish to bring to the notice of the readers that the Journal has started to receive global attention and the impact factor has almost doubled over that of last year, needless to state that the success of the Journal lies with the guest editors, choice of the topics chosen by the editorial team and timely publication with the efforts of our editorial office joining hands with editorial office of Springer.
