Competing Interests
Erwin Khoo was appointed as the first Chairperson of the MPA Bioethics Task Force. Over the past ten years, he has received between MYR 200 to MYR 15000 per year as a Director for Baby and Beyond Two, a private limited healthcare company. He also served as a paid speaker at programmes funded by pharmaceutical companies, earning between MYR 300 and MYR 3000 per year. From 2019 to 2022, he received up to MYR 1800 annually for his services as a medical advisor and reviewer for MIMS Medica, a multi-channel provider of drug information, medical education, and services connecting healthcare communities. In 2022, he received a onetime honorarium payment of MYR 1500 from Zuellig Pharma for an unrestricted educational grant of a scholarly project, which was supported by the Academy of Medicine Malaysia College of Paediatrics. Additionally, some of his work was supported by the FDA Scientific Conference Grant, the Institute of Medical Ethics Travel Grant, Tate & Lyle, and YTL, although he did not receive any payment for these contributions.
